We are a Zhangjiajie-based private tour team – licensed locals who know where the crowds aren’t, and who look after your China trip the way we would look after a friend’s. We wake up under these mountains; you feel it in every viewpoint, quiet trail and last-minute change of plan.
Why a Zhangjiajie-based team matters
Most companies sell Zhangjiajie from an office in Beijing, Shanghai – or another country. We live here. That is not a slogan; it is why your trip simply runs better:
- We know where the crowds aren’t. The park has a rhythm – which viewpoints empty out by mid-afternoon, which trail to walk first, the morning the light is best over the Avatar mountains. We build your day around it, not around the tour-bus timetable.
- We book ahead, the local way. Zhangjiajie runs on timed, name-registered tickets that sell out. As a licensed local operator we lock your cable-car and park slots early and use the team entrances – no queue-jumping, just the right ticket at the right time.
- We can take you off the standard map. Laowuchang’s cloud sea, the quiet end of the Glass Bridge, a Miao village that is still a village and not a show.
What makes us different
- 100% private and tailor-made – your own guide, driver and itinerary, never a group of strangers
- English-speaking local guides with real depth in western Hunan history and heritage
- A reply within 2 hours (8:00–20:00 Beijing time) – we turn your enquiry into a custom itinerary fast
- No forced shopping and no hidden commissions – your time and money stay yours
- Signature Hanfu & Miao photography – step into a real-life Avatar and xianxia world
- 24/7 support while you travel, from a licensed local operator
Plans change on the ground. So can your trip.
Weather rolls in. A viewpoint gets busy. You fall for a little teahouse and want one more hour. Because our team is physically in Zhangjiajie – not a call centre in another country – we can rework your day while it is happening:
- Swap the order of sights to dodge a crowd or a rain shower
- Reroute when a road closes – our guides check the satellite map and find another way round
- Add a sunrise, a teahouse or one more photo stop when the moment is right
This is something only a team on the ground can promise. The honest fine print: on private trips we adjust freely at no extra cost – as long as a change does not waste a ticket you have already bought or add a cost we would have to pass on. If anything ever affects the price, you hear it from us first.
Where we take you
- Zhangjiajie and Hunan – the Avatar mountains, Tianmen Mountain, the Glass Bridge and Fenghuang Ancient Town
- Sichuan – Chengdu pandas, Jiuzhaigou and famous Sichuan food
- Classic China – Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guilin, Chengdu and Chongqing on seamless multi-city routes
- Photography and culture add-ons – Hanfu & Miao costume shoots, tea ceremonies and village visits
Straight from the mountains, this week
We are here every single day – so let us show you. These are recent photos from our guides on the ground: the real weather, the real crowds, the autumn colour exactly as it is right now, not a stock image from five years ago.
Want a live look before you decide? Message us on WhatsApp and a guide will send you a photo from the park today.

The people who will actually guide you
By the last day, our guides tend to stop feeling like staff and start feeling like the friend you happened to have in China. That is the whole idea: a licensed local professional you can text like a mate – for tonight’s dinner, tomorrow’s weather call, or just “is this one worth it?” We do not subcontract, so the person who plans your trip is hand-in-hand with the person standing next to you on the mountain.
On a China Fantasy Travel trip you are not handed to whoever a far-away office subcontracted that morning. Your guide is one of our own local team, and the way we choose them is a big part of why our trips feel different.
- Local first. Our guides grew up in or near Zhangjiajie. They know the trail that is empty at sunrise and the village that is still real.
- English-speaking only. We do not dilute our standard by promising every language. Our guides speak natural English and can genuinely talk with you about history, food and culture, not recite a script.
- With us for years, not days. We work with the same guides trip after trip, so we know exactly what your day will feel like.
- A friend, not a salesperson. No commissions, no shopping stops. Their only job is to make your trip wonderful.

Meet Zuri – one of our Zhangjiajie guides. “Knowledgeable, patient and so attentive – she made our trip.” – Sonia, USA (5 stars, via GetYourGuide)
We are adding more guide profiles with real photos and stories. In the meantime, tell us about your trip and we will introduce you to the guide who fits it best.
Meet Tian, our founder
China Fantasy Travel is run by Tian, Founder — a Zhangjiajie local who has spent years guiding international travellers through Hunan’s mountains. Tian personally shapes each itinerary, vets the licensed guides who travel with you, and answers enquiries directly, so when you plan a trip with us you are dealing with the person whose name is on the company.
A letter from our founder
Hi, I’m Tian. I was born and raised in Zhangjiajie — the place you may have seen in Avatar, the one with the mountains that seem to float. In 2018 I started in tourism here as a guide, and even now I still take a group out myself from time to time. Old habits.
Guiding showed me how this industry really works from the inside. I watched tour buses pull up to jade shops and tea “museums” instead of trails and villages. I worked in the system that pays guides through shopping commissions instead of a salary — and I got burned by it myself. And I met travellers who had flown halfway around the world to see China, only to be handed a shopping mall.
That is why China Fantasy Travel runs the way it does. Every tour is 100% private — your group, your pace. No shopping stops, ever: our guides earn a proper salary, so nobody sells you anything along the way. Our guides are local and speak English, because what you came so far to see should not get lost in translation. And when you write to us, a real person replies within two hours (8:00–20:00 Beijing time) — usually me, or someone sitting a few steps from me.
We are not the biggest travel company in China, and we don’t want to be. We want to be the one you recommend to your sister, your colleague, your hiking club — the one you still remember long after the trip.
Zhangjiajie is home. Come see it the way locals do.
