Short answer: Zhangjiajie Airport (Hehua International, DYG) sits right on the edge of Zhangjiajie city, 5 to 6 km from the centre, and about 40 km from Wulingyuan and the National Forest Park, a 40- to 50-minute drive. After landing you have three ways to Wulingyuan: our private transfer (1 to 4 people: CNY 200 per car, with the driver waiting at the exit), a taxi for about CNY 100, or a bus into the city and a change to the Wulingyuan coach at the Central Bus Station. If you come by high-speed train you arrive at Zhangjiajie West, about 25 km from Wulingyuan, with the same three options.

To the city, a taxi is cheaper than our transfer. To Wulingyuan, ours costs about double a taxi. What you get for that is someone waiting at the exit, no address to explain to a driver, and we check your flight if you land late.

The two “free buses”

The airport runs its own free shuttle into the city. It goes to the Zhangjiajie International Hotel in the city centre and no further, so it does not help if you are heading to Wulingyuan. Outside the arrivals hall you may also meet people offering a free ride to Wulingyuan. That is a tour company’s bus: it takes you into the city to sell you a tour. For Wulingyuan, use a taxi or Didi, the coach from the Central Bus Station, or our transfer.

Arriving at night

Quite a few flights land after 9 pm, including some evening flights from Xi’an. The coach from the city to Wulingyuan stops running around 5:30 pm, so after a late flight your options are a taxi or a transfer booked in advance. Our transfers run at night as usual; for arrivals after 10 pm there is a night surcharge of CNY 100.

If you arrive by train at Zhangjiajie West

High-speed trains arrive at Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, about 10 km from downtown and about 25 km (30 to 40 minutes) from Wulingyuan. The taxi rank is in the B1 car park; a taxi to Wulingyuan is about CNY 60–90, and the station shuttle coach is CNY 13–15. We pick up at Zhangjiajie West and at the older Zhangjiajie Railway Station in the city centre, same price as the airport.

How to book our transfer

Send us your flight or train number, the number of people and your hotel name on WhatsApp. The driver goes by your actual arrival time and waits up to 1 hour at no charge; after that we charge CNY 20 per hour. You are met at the exit and driven to your hotel.

Do send us the hotel name. The National Forest Park has five ticket gates. If you stay in Wulingyuan town you enter by the East (Wulingyuan) Gate; if your hotel is near the South (Forest Park) Gate you enter there. The two gates are about half an hour apart by car, so the driver needs to know which side you are on.

Prices (one way, per car): 1–4 people in a small car, CNY 100 to the city and CNY 200 to Wulingyuan; 5–6 people in a 7-seater, CNY 200 to the city and CNY 300 to Wulingyuan; 7 or more, priced by group size. You can book a transfer on its own, without a tour.

Going back to the airport

The drive from Wulingyuan to the airport takes about 40 minutes. We suggest a pick-up time based on your flight and you confirm it. Drop-offs cost the same as pick-ups.
