How to Get to Zhangjiajie

Zhangjiajie sits in the mountains of northwest Hunan Province, and reaching it is easier than ever thanks to its own airport and a modern high-speed rail station. Here are your options.

By Air — Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG)

Zhangjiajie’s own airport, Hehua International (code DYG), is just about 10 km from the city centre and is the fastest way in. It serves around 30 domestic routes, with direct flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Changsha and other major cities. For longer distances within China, flying is usually the most time-efficient choice.

By High-Speed Train — Zhangjiajie West Railway Station

Since the high-speed line opened, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (Zhangjiajiexi) has connected the city to China’s national bullet-train network. It’s about 10 km from downtown and roughly 50 km from the Wulingyuan scenic area. Changsha, Hunan’s capital, is the main hub — bullet trains run frequently and take only about 2–3.5 hours, so many travellers fly into Changsha and continue by train.

Getting to Your Hotel & the Parks

From the airport or railway station it’s a short transfer to downtown Zhangjiajie or onward to Wulingyuan, the resort town beside the National Forest Park where most visitors stay. On our private tours, your guide and driver meet you on arrival and handle every transfer, so you never wait for a taxi or puzzle over local buses.
