Zhangjiajie Ticket Rules: 4-Day Pass, Time Slots and Line A/B (2026)

How Do Zhangjiajie Park Tickets Work?

A Zhangjiajie National Forest Park ticket is valid for four consecutive days, counted from your first entry, so you can buy it in advance. Every entry is booked for a ticket gate and a time slot, and you enter by scanning your passport. At the East Gate, a Line A or Line B ticket decides which way you go up. The eco-bus, the Bailong Elevator and the cable cars are ticketed separately. Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon have their own tickets and rules.

How the 4-day pass works

  • The park ticket covers four consecutive days, counted from the day you first enter, not the day you buy it. On a multi-day visit you buy it once.
  • Each entry within those four days needs its own booking for a gate and a time slot. You choose the slot each time; it does not have to be the same every day.
  • The eco-bus ticket gives unlimited rides for four days. The Bailong Elevator and the three cable cars are sold as single rides, with combo passes for several rides within four days. See Zhangjiajie tickets and costs for current prices.

Booking a gate and a time slot

  • Since April 2023 the park has used timed, gate-specific booking: you choose a ticket gate and a time slot when you buy, then enter at that gate by scanning your passport.
  • Each booking can be changed twice. The passport number on the booking must match your passport exactly.

The five ticket gates

  • East (Wujiayu / Wulingyuan Landmark Gate), South (Forest Park), West (Yangjiajie), North (Tianzishan) and Middle (Zimugang). Choose the gate by where you want to start that day. See our free English map of the park.

Line A and Line B are marked at the East Gate on our free English map. Tap the map to open it.
  • Line A goes up by the Tianzi cable car and comes down by the Bailong Elevator. Line B is the reverse: up by the Bailong Elevator, down by the Tianzi cable car.
  • If you booked the wrong line, change it online in advance. At the gate there is often no availability left to switch.

Days two to four, and changing plans

  • Every day needs its own gate and time-slot booking. It is easiest to book all your days before you travel.
  • You can change a booking at the gate only if slots are still available, so make changes online in advance wherever you can.

Booking without WeChat

  • The park recommends booking through the WeChat mini-program 张家界旅游小助手 (Zhangjiajie Travel Assistant). If you have no Chinese phone number or WeChat account, a licensed travel agency can book for you. We book tickets for every scenic area, and you do not need a Chinese phone number or WeChat. You can order Forest Park and Tianmen Mountain tickets here.

Is there a fast track?

  • Fast-track options are currently suspended, both in the Forest Park and at Tianmen Mountain, and the parks have not said when they will return. We check the latest status for your travel dates before you go.

Seniors and children

  • Foreign passport holders aged 65 and over enter the Forest Park free; ages 60 to 64 pay half price. The eco-bus fare is still payable, and the cable-car and elevator combo pass has no senior rate for foreign passports.
  • Children under 14 enter free on their own passport.

Luggage storage

  • Every ticket gate has luggage storage.

Rain and fog

  • Ordinary rain or mist does not stop the Forest Park cable cars or the Bailong Elevator, and Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge stay open, unless the park issues a specific notice.
  • In ice, heavy fog or heavy rain, Tianmen Mountain moves all visitors to Route C rather than closing.

Last runs

  • The cable cars, the Bailong Elevator and the eco-buses have no fixed last-run times; the park sets them each day by crowd levels. Plan to come down early.

Tianmen Mountain: Lines A, B and C

At the foot of the 999 steps up to Tianmen Cave, Tianmen Mountain.
  • All three lines go up by cable car, using different cable cars; the main difference is how you come down. If you get car-sick, choose Line C.
  • The upper section of the main cableway has been closed for upgrading since November 2025 and was still closed in September 2026. The standard ticket includes the seven-flight escalators to the summit. The 999 steps to Tianmen Cave can be walked, or you can take the escalator for an extra fee. See our Tianmen Mountain guide.

The rules change often, and a mistake means being turned back at the gate. When we book for you, we set the gate, time slot and up-and-down direction around your plans and check the park notices again before you go. Contact us.

FAQ

When does the 4-day Zhangjiajie ticket start?

It starts on the day you first enter the park, not the day you buy it, so you can buy in advance. Each day of entry still needs its own gate and time-slot booking.

What is the difference between Line A and Line B tickets?

At the East Gate, Line A goes up by the Tianzi cable car and down by the Bailong Elevator; Line B is the reverse. Change a wrong booking online in advance, because the gate often has no availability left to switch.

Can foreigners buy Zhangjiajie tickets without WeChat?

The official channel is a WeChat mini-program. Without a Chinese phone number or WeChat, a licensed travel agency can book on your passport details, and you enter by scanning your passport.

Are there discounts for foreign seniors and children?

Foreign passport holders aged 65 and over enter free and ages 60 to 64 pay half price, though the eco-bus is still payable. Children under 14 enter free on their own passport.

Do the cable cars stop when it rains?

Ordinary rain or mist does not stop the cable cars or the Bailong Elevator. They close only when the park issues a specific notice.
